About Me

I sometimes wish I was one of those people who knew what they were destined to do from birth; however, my journey to today has been slow. No, I wasn't a piano savant. I didn't know what I wanted to do on career day in middle school. Although it took a while to get here, I've learned a lot about what I enjoy, what I do not enjoy and what I now want my future to look like.

It all started when my high school teacher recommended that I sign up for a photography class. From there, I noticed I enjoyed english literature and decided to bring my creativity and writing skills to my high school's newspaper. I took charge of the sports department, focusing on creating a multimedia experience for our readers.

The University of Oklahoma was my next stop (boomer!). I entered as creative media production major and switched to public relations after falling in love with traditional public relations tactics. I decided to lean back into my roots and pursued internships with the NCAA and the University of Oklahoma Athletics Communications Department.

I wanted to make sure I exposed myself to experiences outside of the sports world before graduation. Landing an internship with Garmin changed my path. I was dropped into an organization without the full culture or information view. Learning to ask the right questions was crucial. I also noticed my interest in learning about all the facets of a company outside of marketing from sustainability to product innovation.

I still had more questions about the intersection of business and communications. That landed me at UNC - Chapel Hill to study strategic communication. I want to use my education and work experience to purse a career in the communications space. Whether it's health focused, finance or energy, it interests me all.

I'm proud of my journey, as it has made me a well-rounded and perceptive individual. I have no regrets and know the strategic communication space is where I belong.  More like a blog entry, but my 'about' page really encompasses me. So, thanks for reading this far and learning about me.

Outside of work, you can find me watching the news, cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs, exploring the lowcountry, reading, baking and running (my recipe for happiness)!
